King Innovation® specializes in the development, design, and manufacture of innovative products to meet the needs of their customers. The company has evolved considerably throughout the years, but the goal has always remained the same: innovation.
The King name has long been associated with innovation, dating back into the 1940's when Lloyd King identified a surging post-war demand for aluminum used in pots and pans, aluminum siding, and other consumer products. King sensed a consumer need for these products and founded King Technology, an aluminum foundry in Minneapolis.
King continued to evolve his business over the next 20 years. After exiting the aluminum business, he ventured into the swimming pool industry and then into the irrigation industry. In the 1960's, King used his innovative skills to bring the first freeze protection system for underground irrigation systems to the market. Today, King Drains® are still a cornerstone of the many products the company offers to the irrigation industry.
In 1988, King sold his irrigation business to his son, Herb King, who carried on his father's tradition of developing innovative technologies which revolutionized the electrical and irrigation markets. Cornerstone industry products such as DryConn Waterproof Connectors were developed and brought to market. This patented product line transformed the irrigation and electric industry by allowing installers to splice and seal conductors in one easy step. The line has won twelve national awards for product excellence.
In 2018 King Innovation was purchased by ECM Industries, LLC, becoming a wholly owned subsidiary of ECM. We are now proud to operate alongside prominent brands such as Gardner Bender, Sperry Instruments, Bergen Industries, Calterm, and ILSCO.
Today, King Innovation as a part of ECM Industries continues its commitment to the continual pursuit of excellence in producing innovative products.
King Innovation is continually looking for ways to improve existing products and to develop uniquely relevant products for its markets. In addition to DryConn Waterproof Connectors and King Drains, the company also offers the CPSC endorsed AlumiConn Connector, hand bilge pumps, specialty tools and many other products for the irrigation, landscape lighting, electrical, gas and water utility markets.
The headquarters of King Innovation is located outside of St. Louis in O'Fallon, Missouri along with housing R&D laboratories, manufacturing and office facilities.
